Intimacy is not just limited to the bedroom. It can come into daily relating with those around us. It means being authentic and sharing deeply and truthfully what is really going on for you, gifting the other person with a more quality connection with your authentic self, literally translated as ‘into-me-see’. This gives you more enriching connections with those around you rather than skimming the surface of reality together.
When speaking your deepest truth, it helps to connect with your heart first, so you are coming from a space of love and compassion. This is particularly helpful when sharing something that you’re uncomfortable with, or which might be confronting for the other person. Stay centered in your heart, breathe deeply and communicate clearly, trusting that whatever comes from your heart is okay to express.
It can be scary to open yourself up and be vulnerable in this way, especially if you’ve been belittled or dismissed in the past when something feels important to you. Yet it can transform your quality of relating with those around you, and deepen your self awareness too.
Seen in this way, intimacy is a powerful doorway to freedom. Freedom to express yourself authentically, being real in the moment with what arises, and being seen in your vulnerability. In doing so, you are also opening the doorway for others to drop into this juicy space with you and be seen for who they truly are. That is true freedom!
